[Gyeongsang Maeil Newspaper = Reporter Lee Tae-heon] Gyeongsan City has been holding promotional and marketing events in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and Singapore from the 12th to the 17th of this month to promote its key export products, including Shine Muscat grapes and agricultural products.
On the 13th, during the promotional and marketing event, Gyeongsan City signed a “Mutual Cooperation Agreement for Expanding Exports of High-Quality Agricultural Products from Gyeongsan” with K-MART of Vietnam.
The agreement ceremony, held at K-MART’s headquarters in Ho Chi Minh, was attended by more than 20 key figures, including Gyeongsan Mayor Jo Hyun-il, K-MART CEO Shin Young-hwa, Gyeongbuk Commerce Representative Kim Hyun-gyu, local agricultural cooperative heads, and export company representatives.
K-MART has 140 stores across Vietnam and distributes Korean agricultural products and processed goods locally. The company has rapidly grown, riding the Hallyu (Korean Wave), and has been selected as one of Vietnam’s Top 100 brands for five consecutive years.
Through this agreement, Gyeongsan City is now collaborating with a large retail network in Vietnam, which will help pave the way for the export of high-quality agricultural products and processed foods from Gyeongsan to international markets. This agreement also establishes a foundation for mutual cooperation to ensure stable exports in the future.
In particular, Gyeongsan City introduced Shine Muscat grapes, known for their top national quality, along with traditional teas and processed foods at large supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh, receiving a strong positive response from local consumers.
Mayor Jo Hyun-il stated, “Signing this agreement with K-MART, a professional importer and distributor of Korean agricultural products, is highly meaningful. I hope that Gyeongsan’s agricultural products will be more widely recognized throughout Vietnam through K-MART’s large distribution network.”
Meanwhile, K-MART Vietnam is managed by Ko Sang-gu, a businessman from Daegu, with annual sales exceeding 100 billion KRW. The company has been recognized for its efforts in distributing Korean agricultural products in Vietnam and has received numerous awards, including the World’s Best Korean Community Award in 2015 and the National Order of Merit, Dongbaek Medal, in 2018.
